CANTRET 50mg Capsule is used in the chemotherapy treatment for ovarian cancer which has not improved or worsened after treatment with other medications.

Chemotherapy is the treatment of cancer using drugs which kill and stop the multiplication of cancer cells.

CANTRET 50mg Capsule may also be prescribed for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

CANTRET 50mg Capsule belongs to a class of drugs known as alkylating agents. CANTRET 50mg Capsule works by slowing or stopping the growth of cancer cells in the body

• The dosage of oral capsule of CANTRET 50mg Capsule depends on the age, weight and medical condition of an individual. Take CANTRET 50mg Capsule as prescribed by your doctor.
• CANTRET 50mg Capsule should be taken with food. Do not chew the tablet.
• Swallow the tablet with a glass of water.
• CANTRET 50mg Capsule is not advised to be taken by children.
• Do not discontinue CANTRET 50mg Capsule without consulting a doctor.
• If you miss a dose of CANTRET 50mg Capsule, please take it immediately once you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

• Amitriptyline, Amoxapine, Desipramine, Clomipramine, Imipramine, Doxepin, Maprotiline, Nortriptyline
• Aspirin
• Cimetidine
• Clozapine
• Denosumab, Leflunomide, Natalizumab, Pimecrolimus, Tacrolimus, Trastuzumab (biologic and immunologic medication)
• Echinacea
• Isocarboxazid, Phenelzine, Rasagline, Selegiline
• Live vaccination (Chicken pox, Influenza, Small pox, Rotavirus, BCG, MMR)
• Pyridoxine
• Roflumilast

Most common side effects of CANTRET 50mg Capsule are:

• Loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, cramps, diarrhoea
• Numbness, tingling or decreased sensation in fingers and toes
• Dizziness
• Sleepiness
• Weakness
• Mood changes, agitation, depression

Please stop your tablets and contact your physician immediately if you have

• severe allergic reactions (rashes, hives, itching, swelling of mouth, face or lips, difficulty in breathing, tightness in chest, dizziness, palpitation);
• fever > 38C with chills, cough, sore throat, pain during urination, skin irritation;
• unusual bruising or bleeding, black stools, coffee colour vomit, blood in urine / phlegm, bleeding from gums or nose, heavy menstrual bleeding, reddish purple spots on skin (petechiae);
• severe nerve damage (pain, burning, tingling, numbness in hands or feet, weakness in arms and legs, loss of consciousness);
• severe nausea which prevents you from eating;
• vomiting 4 to 5 times in 24 hours;
• diarrhoea 4 to 6 times in 24 hours;
• continuous loss of weight.

• it has passed the expiry date of the medicine printed on the pack.
• the foil or packaging is torn or shows signs of tampering or there is discolouration.
• you are breastfeeding.

Tell your doctor if

• you are allergic to CANTRET 50mg Capsule or other medicine from the same class.
• you are taking any other drugs, OTC medications, herbal products or nutritional supplements.
• you have any brain and nervous system disorder.
• you have any bone marrow problems.
• you have any blood disorder.
• you have had a heart attack, chest pain on resting, high blood pressure, uncontrolled high blood pressure.
• you are at risk of heart disease.
• you have liver or kidney disease.
• you have had a stroke.
• you are planning a surgery or any procedure.
• you are pregnant or trying to conceive or are breastfeeding.

It is better to avoid alcohol while taking CANTRET 50mg Capsule as it may cause nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, headaches, sweating, and flushing of the face.
