What CLOPITOR A 75/10/75MG is used for?
It is used
- to prevent blood clots forming following a heart attack or stroke or to help prevent heart attacks and strokes in patients who have previously suffered from these conditions
- to lower lipids known as cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood when a low-fat diet and life style changes on their own have failed
Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you,
- are allergic to CLOPITOR A 75/10/75MG or any of the ingredients
- are allergic to other salicylates or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
- have had an asthma attack or swelling of some parts of the body e.g. face, lips, throat or tongue (angioedema) after taking salicylates or NSAIDs
- have or have ever had an ulcer in your stomach
- have ever had the problem of your blood not clotting properly
- are suffering from gout
- have severe liver or kidney problems
- have high blood pressure
- have any severe respiratory failure
- have heavy menstrual periods
- have a planned or recent surgery (including dental) in the next seven days
- have an under-active thyroid gland (hypothyroidism)
- have had previous muscular problems during treatment with other lipid-lowering medicines (e.g. other -statin or -fibrate medicines)
CLOPITOR A 75/10/75MG with food, drink and alcohol
- Do not take more than one or two small glasses of grapefruit juice per day because large quantities of grapefruit juice can change the effects of CLOPITOR A 75/10/75MG
- Avoid drinking too much alcohol while taking this medicine. Drinking alcohol may possibly increase the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding and prolong bleeding time
- If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant or breast feed, you should tell your doctor before taking this medicine. You should not breast-feed while taking this medicine
Please tell your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including
- blood thinning medicines (e.g. warfarin, heparin, phenindione and clopidogrel)
- organ rejection after transplantation (e.g. ciclosporin, tacrolimus)
- high blood pressure (e.g. diuretics and ACE-inhibitors)
- regulation of the heart beat (digoxin)
- manic-depressive illness (lithium)
- pain and inflammation (e.g. anti-inflammatory medicines such as ibuprofen, or steroids)
- gout (e.g. probenecid)
- epilepsy (valproate, phenytoin, carbamazepine)
- glaucoma (acetazolamide)
- cancer or rheumatoid arthritis (e.g. methotrexate, paclitaxel)
- diabetes (e.g. glibenclamide, repaglinide)
- depression (selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors (SSRIs) such as sertraline or paroxetine, moclobemide)
- hormone replacement therapy when the adrenal glands or pituitary gland have been destroyed or removed, or to treat inflammation, including rheumatic diseases and inflammation of the intestines (corticosteroids)
- iron salts (for treatment of iron deficiency anaemia), carbonates (treatment of peptic ulcer and reflux), alkali hydroxides (antacids)
- omeprazole or esomeprazole, medicines to treat upset stomach
- fluconazole or voriconazole, medicines to treat fungal infections
- medicine to treat HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) infections
- some calcium channel blockers used for angina or high blood pressure, e.g. amlodipine, diltiazem; medicines to regulate your heart rhythm e.g. digoxin, verapamil, amiodarone
- some medicines used in the treatment of hepatitis C e.g. telaprevir
- medicine called fusidic acid, (a medicine for bacterial infection) orally or by injection. The combination of fusidic acid and Atorvastatin can lead to serious muscle problems (rhabdomyolysis)
- Your doctor will have decided the right dose of CLOPITOR A 75/10/75MG for you
- They should be taken orally with a glass of water
- It can be taken at any time of day, with or without food
If you take more CLOPITOR A 75/10/75MG
- If you accidently take more than your usual daily dose, contact your doctor or nearest hospital for advice
If you forget to take CLOPITOR A 75/10/75MG
- If you miss a dose, wait until it is time for your next dose, then go on as normal. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose
If you stop taking CLOPITOR A 75/10/75MG
- Do not stop the treatment unless your doctor tells you so
Like all medicines, CLOPITOR A 75/10/75MG can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Aspirin:
- sudden wheezing
- swelling of your lips, face or body
- rash, fainting or difficulties swallowing
- reddening of the skin with blisters or peeling and may be associated with a high fever and joint pains
- unusual bleeding, such as coughing up blood, blood in your vomit or urine, or black stools
Atorvastatin:
- muscle weakness, tenderness or pain
Clopidogrel:
- signs of liver problems such as yellowing of the skin and/or the eyes (jaundice)
- fever, signs of infection or extreme tiredness
Aspirin:
- indigestion
- increased tendency for bleeding
Atorvastatin:
- inflammation of the nasal passages, pain in the throat, nose bleed
- allergic reactions
- increases in blood sugar levels
- headache
- joint pain, muscle pain and back pain
- blood test results that show your liver function can become abnormal
Clopidogrel:
- bleeding may occur as bleeding in the stomach or bowels, bruising, haematoma (unusual bleeding or bruising under the skin), nose bleed, blood in the urine
- in a small number of cases, bleeding in the eye, inside the head, the lung or the joints
Aspirin:
- hives
- breathing difficulty
Atorvastatin:
- anorexia (loss of appetite)
- weight gain, decreases in blood sugar levels
- having nightmares, insomnia
- dizziness, numbness or tingling in the fingers and toes
- blurred vision
- ringing in the ears and/or head
- pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas leading to stomach pain)
- hepatitis (liver inflammation)
- rash, skin rash and itching, hives, hair loss
- neck pain, muscle fatigue
- fatigue, feeling unwell, weakness
Clopidogrel:
- headache
- rashes, itching, dizziness, sensation of tingling and numbness
Aspirin:
- severe bleeding in the stomach or intestines, brain haemorrhage; altered number of blood cells
- nausea and vomiting
- cramps in the lower respiratory tract
- asthma attack
- inflammation in the blood vessels
- bruising with purple spots (cutaneous bleeding)
- abnormal heavy or prolonged menstrual periods
Atorvastatin:
- visual disturbance
- unexpected bleeding or bruising
- cholestasis (yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes)
- tendon injury
Clopidogrel:
- vertigo, enlarged breasts in males
