HIFENAC TH Tablet is used in the treatment of following conditions:

• Pain in rheumatoid arthritis (autoimmune disease causing inflammation of joints), osteoarthritis (arthritis of joints), ankylosing spondylitis (arthritis of spine);
• Post-operative pain, neck and shoulder pain, sciatica;
• Painful spasm associated with low back pain, degenerative vertebral disorders, torticollis (crick in the neck), trauma, neurological disorders.

HIFENAC TH Tablet may also be prescribed for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

• Aceclofenac is a NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug), analgesic (pain reliever) and anti-pyretic (reduces fever) medicine.
  • Aceclofenac inhibits an enzyme cyclo-oxygenase, which is responsible of production of prostaglandins in our body. (prostaglandins are natural chemicals in our body which promote inflammation).
  • Aceclofenac increases glycosaminoglycans (GAG) synthesis which helps in repair and regeneration of articular cartilage.

• Thiocolchicoside is a semi-synthetic derivative of colchicoside (naturally occurring compound), with muscle relaxant, anti-inflammatory and analgesic (pain reliever) properties.
  • Thiocolchicoside acts as a competitive GABA (gamma amino butyric acid) type A receptor antagonist and inhibits glycine and nicotinic acetylcholine receptors to cause muscles relaxation and reduction of pain.

• The dosage of oral tablet and capsule of HIFENAC TH Tablet depends on the age, weight and medical condition of an individual. Take HIFENAC TH Tablet as prescribed by your doctor.
• You are advised to take the tablet with or after food.
• Swallow the whole tablet with a glass of water.
• Do not discontinue the medication without consulting a doctor.
• If you miss a dose of HIFENAC TH Tablet, please take it immediately once you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

If you have taken an overdose of HIFENAC TH Tablet, please contact your doctor immediately.

Symptoms of overdose of HIFENAC TH Tablet are:

• Headache
• Nausea, vomiting
• Pain abdomen
• Dizziness
• Sweating
• Somnolence (sleepiness)
• Pancreatitis (abdominal pain radiating to the back, abdominal pain exaggerated by eating, fever, rapid pulse, nausea, vomiting, pain in pancreas region)
• Hepatic failure (jaundice, malaise, nausea, vomiting, confusion, abdominal swelling, sleepiness)
• Acute renal failure (swelling in legs, ankle and feet, shortness of breath, fatigue, chest pain, confusion, disorientation, coma)

Drugs that interact with HIFENAC TH Tablet:

• Analgesics
• Anticoagulants
• Aspirin
• Cyclosporin
• Digoxin
• Diuretics
• Lithium
• Methotrexate
• Quinolones
• Rifampin, Isoniazid
• Warfarin

Most common side effects of HIFENAC TH Tablet are:

• Nausea
• Dyspepsia (pain or uncomfortable feeling in stomach)
• Abdominal pain
• Diarrhoea
• Skin rash
• Urticaria (hives)
• Enuresis (involuntary urination)

Please stop your tablets and contact your physician immediately if you have

• hypersensitivity reaction (breathing difficulty, bronchospasm, skin rashes, swelling of the face, tongue, larynx);
• increased blood pressure readings;
• chest pain;
• swelling of legs, ankle and feet.

• it has passed the expiry date of the medicine printed on the pack.
• the foil or packaging is torn or shows signs of tampering or there is discolouration.

Tell your doctor if

• you are allergic to HIFENAC TH Tablet or to any ingredients of this medicine.
• you are taking any other drugs, OTC medications, herbal products or nutritional supplements.
• you have heart failure, hypertension, liver disease, kidney disease.
• you are a chronic alcoholic.
• you are a known case of G6PD deficiency.
• you have peptic ulcer.
• you have history of gastro-intestinal ulceration, bleeding or perforation.
• you have ulcerative colitis or crohn’s disease.
• you have bleeding diathesis.
• you have acute rhinitis.
• you have asthma.
• you are planning a surgery or any procedure.
• you are pregnant or trying to conceive or are breastfeeding.

HIFENAC TH Tablet should be stored at 30°C a cool, dry place. Keep the medicine away from sunlight and do not freeze the medicine. Keep the medicine out of reach from children.

2. Can I drive while taking HIFENAC TH Tablet?

HIFENAC TH Tablet causes drowsiness and dizziness in some individuals. Avoid driving if you are taking HIFENAC TH Tablet.

3. Should I follow any special dietary instructions while taking HIFENAC TH Tablet?

There are no dietary restrictions if you are taking HIFENAC TH Tablet.

4. Is HIFENAC TH Tablet addictive?

No, HIFENAC TH Tablet is not addictive. But, do not take it without consulting your doctor.
