METROGYL F Suspension syrup is used for the treatment of diarrhoea and other infections related to brain, reproductive system, gastrointestinal tract, and skin. METROGYL F Suspension is also used for the treatment of following conditions:

• Amoebiasis
• Bacterial vaginosis
• Cholera
• Trichomoniasis
• Giardiasis
• Pelvic infection

METROGYL F Suspension may also be prescribed for other conditions as determined by the doctor.

In METROGYL F Suspension, Furazolidone is a broad-spectrum antibiotic and belongs to the class of drugs called monoamine oxidase inhibitors. The drug acts by crosslinking the bacterial DNA and inhibits the growth of the microbes that cause infection.

Metronidazole belongs to the class of drugs called antiprotozoal agents. It kills the bacteria by damaging its DNA and other cell organelles.

The dosage and the drug form depend on the age, weight and medical condition of an individual. Take METROGYL F Suspension as prescribed by your doctor.

Measure the prescribed amount of medication using a measuring cup or a spoon before taking each dose. METROGYL F Suspension should be taken with food.

If you miss a dose of METROGYL F Suspension, take it immediately once you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

• Disulfiram
• Levodopa
• Lithium

• Phenobarbitone
• Warfarin

4. Do I need to be monitored for any laboratory parameters while taking METROGYL F Suspension?

Yes, METROGYL F Suspension may lower your blood pressure. Therefore, it is advised to continuously monitor the blood pressure while on METROGYL F Suspension medication.

5. Is it safe to consume dairy products while taking METROGYL F Suspension?

Dairy products may contain tyramine, which may lead to a headache or increased blood pressure when taken with METROGYL F Suspension. Therefore, you must avoid tyramine-containing foods while using the drug and two weeks after METROGYL F Suspension therapy.
