SIOBAN Suspension is used to treat the following conditions:

• Parenchymal neurocysticercosis (active lesions caused by larval forms of the pork tapeworm, Taenia solium);
• Cystic hydatid disease (infection in liver or lungs because of the Echinococcus tapeworm);
• Infection caused byEnterobius vermicularis(pinworm or threadworm),Ascaris lumbricoides(roundworm),Ancylostoma duodenaleandNecator americanus(hookworms),Trichuris trichiura(whipworm),Strongyloides stercoralisand animal hookworm larvae.

SIOBAN Suspension is used in combination with other antibiotics.

SIOBAN Suspension may also be prescribed for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

SIOBAN Suspension is an anthelmintic. It acts inside the body parasite, stops the production of the larvae, thereby killing the parasites.

• The dosage of oral tablet, syrup and oral solution of SIOBAN Suspension depends on the age, weight and medical condition of an individual. Take SIOBAN Suspension as prescribed by your doctor.
• For administration in adults:
• For hydatid disease, SIOBAN Suspension is given daily for 28-day cycle followed by a gap of 14-day. This is given for total three consecutive cycles.
• For neurocysticercosis it is given from 8 to 30 days.
• Take SIOBAN Suspension with meal.
• Avoid eating grapefruit or drinking grapefruit juice while using this medication.
• For administration in children:
• If the child can’t swallow the tablet whole, it may be crushed or chewed with a little water.
• SIOBAN Suspension is given to children above 2 yrs.
• Dosage of the tablets, oral suspension, syrup depends on the age and weight of the child.

• If you miss a dose of SIOBAN Suspension, please take it immediately once you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

If you have taken an overdose of SIOBAN Suspension, please contact your doctor immediately.

Symptoms of overdose may include the following:

• Stomach pain
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Hair loss
• Diarrhoea

• Amoxicillin
• Ascorbic acid
• Aspirin
• Boceprevir
• Bosentan
• Bupivacaine
• Cobicistat
• Cholecalciferol
• Cimetidine
• Ciprofloxacin
• Cyanocobalamin
• Dexamethasone
• Epinephrine
• Levofloxacin
• Lidocaine
• Phenobarbital
• Phytonadione
• Thiamine
• Valproic acid

Most common side effects of SIOBAN Suspension are: 

• Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain
• Hair loss
• Headache
• Dizziness, Vertigo
• Skin rash

Please stop your tablets and contact your physician immediately if you have

• blood related problems like pancytopenia (deficiency in RBC, WBC and platelets) aplastic anaemia (body stops producing blood cells) and agranulocytosis (decrease in WBC) and leukopenia;
• fevers and chills;
• black tarry stools;
• painful or difficult urination;
• unusual bleeding or bruising;
• blood in urine or stool;
• tiredness or are feeling weak;
• yellowing of skin or eyes, pain in abdomen (signs of abnormal functioning of liver).

• Seek doctor’s advice before taking any other drug or herbal products while on SIOBAN Suspension.
• While on SIOBAN Suspension treatment liver function tests must be done before the start of each treatment cycle and at least every two weeks during treatment.
• SIOBAN Suspension can cause bone marrow suppression. Blood count must be done at the start and every two weeks during each 28-day cycle.
• SIOBAN Suspension must be discontinued if blood cell counts decreases.
• Women taking this medication must use some forms of birth control measures while taking this medication and for 1 month after treatment stops.

You are advised not to take SIOBAN Suspension if

• it has passed the expiry date of the medicine printed on the pack.
• the foil or packaging is torn or shows signs of tampering or there is discolouration.

Tell your doctor if

• you are allergic to SIOBAN Suspension.
• you are taking any other drugs, OTC medications, herbal products or nutritional supplements.
• you have any liver disease.
• if you have any biliary tract problems.
• you have any blood or bone marrow disorder.
• you have any kind of allergies.
• you have any eye problem specifically with retina.
• you are losing hair and getting fever.
• you are planning a surgery or any procedure.
• you are pregnant or trying to conceive or are breastfeeding.

1. How should SIOBAN Suspension be stored?
• SIOBAN Suspension tablets and oral suspension must be stored in a cool temperature below 30°C in a dry place.
• The tablets, suspension and syrup must not be exposed to light and moisture as it becomes less active. SIOBAN Suspension must be kept out of children’s reach.
2. Should I follow any special dietary instructions while taking SIOBAN Suspension?

No, you can have your normal diet unless advised by your doctor.

3. What are the other formulations of SIOBAN Suspension available?

SIOBAN Suspension comes in oral tablets, oral suspension, syrup and injectable formulations.

4. Can I drive while taking SIOBAN Suspension?

SIOBAN Suspension does not affect the driving ability. However, if you are feeling dizzy, it is better to avoid driving.

5. Can I drink alcohol with SIOBAN Suspension?

It is better to avoid alcohol while taking SIOBAN Suspension as the medicine increases the effect of alcohol.
